The annual State of the City Forum was an exciting chance to rub shoulders with Bakersfield’s movers and shakers. Gathered together for a wonderful lunch, attendees were able to listen to highlights of the past year and learn about what the future holds for our city. This year’s special luncheon honored Mayor Harvey Hall for his 16 years of service.
The Bakersfield Blaze hosted their Bakersfield Magazine night where they played the Lake Elsinore Storm and since it was Throwback Thursday, the first 1000 fans received classic Bakersfield Indians jerseys. The Blaze were triumphant and won with a final score of 7-4, making this an exciting game and a great night for all (at least the home team, that is).
The Bakersfield Wing Festival brought hungry wing fanatics from all around the city to sample flavors from classic BBQ to wings so hot, it was like eating liquid fire. Attendees enjoyed beer and food from local restaurants and vendors while listening to live music. The popular event benefitted the Alzheimer’s Disease Association.
A fun event for the whole family was hosted by the Buena Vista Museum of Natural History & Science. The Marriott was abuzz with demonstrations, experiments, and plenty of hands-on fun focused on science, technology, and engineering. Set to inspire all who are interested in these fields, notable scientists and other speakers presented throughout the day.
With their sights set on all things green, the Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce hosted the Fourth Annual Earth Day Luncheon at CSUB. Those who gathered together for the betterment of the earth were informed about all of the environmental work that is being done here in Kern County (along with earth-friendly tips) by local experts.
Celebrating its 75th year, the Kern County Museum threw a wild Forties Front Porch Party. The event’s porch crawl led guests through the museum grounds to sample themed cocktails and food to live swing music from Little Big Band. Vintage military vehicles and an arm wrestling competition were popular attractions.
