Experience an unforgettable meal at Shangri-La, where their vast menu featuring the best of Chinese, Japanese, and Thai offerings add up to an extraordinary dining experience.
With the desire of sharing an enticing variety of Asian cuisine with Bakersfield, Mike and Vincent Yang opened Shangri-La in 2015. They had noticed that most restaurants offer a limited range of food and found this limiting for those who may want to try new cuisines. Vincent revealed that they offer “multiple types of food so that diners don’t have to go different places, they’ll say ‘oh, they have Chinese, Japanese, and Thai food,’ and they don’t have to go to different places to get the same type of meal.” As it can often be impossible to choose somewhere to eat with a large group, Shangri-La opens the door to allowing everyone to get exactly what they’re craving, and gives diners room to get adventurous and try out new dishes.
The result is a full and enticing menu filled with many great entrées from all across Asia, with classics like Chinese honey walnut shrimp and sizzling rice soup, Thai favorites drunken noodles and pad Thai, and Japanese noodle dishes.
Needless to say, there’s a lot to get excited about when you look at Shangri-La’s menu, but what’s arguably the most captivating is their dim sum, offered every weekend. Diners can have fun choosing from a selection of small plates while exploring the menu as they try new things, though it can be hard to pass up your favorites! With so many savory items like the ever-popular shrimp dumplings, BBQ pork buns, and shui mai, diners often fill up on these appetizers alone.
Accompanying their expansive regular and dim sum menus is their self-serve wine bar with its impressive selection. Guests can use a card and select the desired vintage before their glass is automatically filled. In keeping with their comprehensive menu, beer and Japanese sake is also available to pair with meals.
Whether you’re feeling adventurous and want to go on a taste journey through Asia, experience their delicious dim sum, or are just looking for authentic Chinese dishes you already know and love, Shangri-La has it all and more.
