He’s the owner and head designer at House of Moseley Interior Design and she’s an accountant at the Bakersfield Marriott at the Convention Center, but together they did a little addition to create the perfect family and designed a great life in our community.
What was the first thing you thought when you met your future spouse for the first time?
Robert: Hire her!
Alexis: That’s going to be my boss? I am going to marry that man. It was the day of my interview to work for him. I knew it immediately—it was love at first sight.
What is the funniest thing that happened while you two were dating?
Robert: Watching her try to give directions. She has no clue of north, south, east, or west.
Alexis: I just can’t remember anything particularly funny.
What is the craziest thing your spouse has ever done for you?
Robert: Coffee. Every morning I have a cup of coffee at my bedside.
Alexis: When we first started dating and we were in Vegas at the furniture show, we went into Neiman Marcus and he said, “Pick a Prada!” I about died. I almost left the store. But his sister said, “Pick the one you want or he’ll pick it for you.” Needless to say, I got my first Prada!
What is your spouse’s biggest phobia?
Robert: We call them “Alexisisms.” She doesn’t like tomatoes but loves tomato sauce. Hates onions, but her favorite soup is French onion. The list goes on.
Alexis: Spiders! I’m supposed to be scared of them but if he sees one, he screams and jumps so I have to get up and go kill it. I look at it as that I am facing my fears.
Who’s the first one to admit when they’re wrong?
Robert: I know when she thinks I’m wrong…we stop talking. Haha!
Alexis: Neither. We go to separate corners. Then we eventually give in and say we’re sorry—the other person was wrong. That makes it a happy ending.
What is your spouse most passionate about?
Robert: George. Our son. Alexis puts all of her love into him.
Alexis: He is most passionate about his family. All Moseleys have a big heart and are very family-oriented. His boys especially give him a big reason to smile every day, which he carries to work. His passion for his work is exhilarating to watch.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Bakersfield?
Robert: Any community event, really. I love seeing all the smiling faces of our town.
Alexis: For me, it’s to eat! I love food and look forward to every meal, so a good time definitely involves going out to eat first.
What is your least favorite thing about your spouse and most favorite thing?
Robert: Ordering food. The girl is skinny—doesn’t eat what she orders. Then I end up eating it. It does make her happy, though.
Alexis: Least would be that he is never wrong. According to him, that is. My favorite is our love. You can pick a moment of any day of any week of any year and there isn’t a moment that I wouldn’t want to be his forever.
